About Networking in Van
Networking in Van is a newly formed tribe in Vancouver helping business professionals stay connected with the best networking and professional development events in the city.
We work with a number of networking groups in the city to help promote their events through our website and social media channels. NetworkinginVan.com launched in May 2011 and is growing fast! Word –of-mouth about the site is growing steadily as the one stop shop for all the best networking opportunities in the city.

THE DETAILS
WHO?
Networking in Van is looking for passionate marketing/communication students or recent graduates with online marketing experience, strong social and writing skills. We need someone knowledgeable of established platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin. You must be disciplined enough to make your own time yet meet all deadlines.
Key attributes and skills for desired applicant:
- Willingness to learn quickly and to be trained on in-demand skills
- Tenacious enthusiasm for marketing, social media and supporting team members
- Your own computer with high-speed internet Access
- Reasonable proficiency at Typing and Data Entry
- Experience with Document Building: Word Processors, Spreadsheets, Databases etc.
- Creative writing skills and a passion for blogging
- Proven experience in creating engaging content, online networking and relationship building
WHAT?
The Networking in Van Intern will contribute to the branding, promotion, and implementation of social media strategies and also be asked to actively engage with the heads of numerous Networking groups and events in the city. As a member of our marketing team, you will have a passion for technology, social media and relationship building.
The Networking in Van Internship role includes but is not limited to the following:
- Gaining an understanding of the different networking groups in the city and doing research on further industries we are not currently promoting
- Monitoring conversations online around the Networking in Van brand
- Optimization of Facebook Fan Pages, Twitter accounts, Linkedin channels and other emerging media platforms
- Ideation around blog content, in addition to working with our team of guest bloggers to produce content for the site
- Development of targeted, keyword rich content to be used on social media platforms
- Link building activities – Blog and forum comments
- Building and nurturing of relationships with potential sponsors, affiliates, advocates and online influencers
- Weekly reporting on valuable metrics and actionable insights for fan engagement
- Attending networking events in the city to help promote the Networking in Van brand
- Development of your personal online brand
WHERE?
Networking in Van is headquartered in Vancouver, BC, and it is important you are from the lower mainland and have some sense about the different networking groups in the city. As a Networking in Van Intern, the majority of your time will be spent working remotely and collaborating using multiple online communications tools (Skype, Google Docs, Hootsuite, etc)
We will work together and meet:
- In person once or twice a month and through Skype weekly
- Team-building activities like networking presentations and events
WHEN?
As an intern, we expect a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week. However, additional time commitment is welcomed.
Term: Internships normally last for 3-6 months depending on the projects you will be involved in. We will work with you to identify the right fit based on your availability.
