A Vancouver native, Jen Schaeffers is the Executive Director of the CKNW Orphans’ Fund. Past roles have included Director of Marketing & Communications with Sport BC, Marketing Manager with the Vancouver Canucks and helping manage multi-million dollar sponsorship deals with the Strategic Alliances group at Intrawest.
Jen begun NetworkinginVan.com in an effort to help in the professional development of individuals across the lower mainland. She is a firm believer in the power of networks and how people can help one another in their road to success (whatever that looks like!)
In 2011, Jen was chosen by the Women’s Executive Network as one of 100 women in Canada to be a protege for the Top 100 Mentorship program. The WXN is most widely known for the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada Awards. Jen also was one of three finalists for the Vancouver Board of Trade “Spirit of Vancouver” Awards in the Individual Community Award category, presented in recognition of outstanding individual contributions to the spirit of Vancouver during the past year and to an individual who demonstrated the best characteristics of community commitment, creativity and volunteerism.
Passionate about community and philanthropy, Jen is a member of the Women’s Leadership Circle Advisory Committee and sits on the Women’s Business Network with representatives from all the women’s groups in the lower mainland. She mentors a young student through the Vancouver Board of Trade, Leaders of Tomorrow program and is incredibly passionate about the development of women into positions of leadership, speaking at events such as Pink Tank, MomCafe and to SFU Public Relations students.
Past volunteer roles have included sitting on the organizing committee’s for the Ronald McDonald House BC Charity Gala as the Sponsorship Chair, helping raise over $100k to help build a new home for RMH BC (Sept 2011), Canucks for Kids Fund “Dice & Ice” Benefit, BC Children’s Hospital “Jeans Day“, Canuck Place “Gift of Time“, Canadian Cancer Society “Relay for Life” and Y.E.S! Vancouver (benefitting Dress for Success).
Jen is grateful to have recently taken on a role as Executive Director with the CKNW Orphans’ Fund, a charity with over 60 years of dedication to special needs children in BC. The fund is committed to enhancing the lives of children with social, physical and mental challenges and distributes approx. $1 million dollars into the community annually.
